One principle

What happens in the family stays in the family. Boet has no server holding your content, no user accounts with us, and no analytics or advertising tools.

What data is processed, and where

Everything in an estate – items, photos, values, wishes, bids and agreements – is stored in iCloud (Apple CloudKit) belonging to the person who created the estate, and is shared only with invited participants through Apple's own sharing mechanism. Arctic Minds has no access to this content.

Automatic valuation

• When you photograph an item, the photo is sent to our service provider Anthropic (Claude API) via our server to suggest a name, category and indicative value.
• The photo carries no name, e-mail, location or other identity, and is never stored on our servers – we log only request counts, not content.
• Processing is governed by a data processing agreement with Anthropic. Data is not used to train AI models.
• Legal basis: the agreement with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) – the valuation runs only when you request it. Content-free counters are kept for operations (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Anthropic processes data in the USA. The transfer is governed by the EU Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) in the data processing agreement.
• The feature is optional – you can always register items manually.

Purchase ledger and security on our server

For purchases and AI valuations to work, Arctic Minds' server processes a minimum of technical data: a random estate ID (no name or e-mail), Apple's transaction ID for the purchases, the balance of AI valuations and the unlock, short-lived request IDs, and pseudonymised counters that protect against abuse. Photos and text for AI valuation are processed in memory only during the valuation itself and are not stored on the server. The purchase ledger is kept for as long as it is needed to deliver and restore the purchases; security counters and request IDs are short-lived and deleted automatically. If you want the server data linked to your estate's ID deleted, contact us at post@arcticminds.no.

Purchases

The one-time purchase and AI packs are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment or card details.

Deletion

The administrator can delete the whole estate at any time; all items, photos and agreements are then permanently removed from iCloud for everyone. Deletion at Anthropic follows the data processing agreement.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, data portability, restriction and objection under the GDPR. Since the content lives in your own iCloud, you have direct control in the app – and the whole estate can be exported (CSV) from Settings at any time, which also fulfils data portability.
